Community access & social support in Brisbane, Ipswich, Springfield & Logan
Community participation support is about the part of life that happens outside the house. That might be a weekly class, the gym, a coffee with friends, a local group, volunteering or simply having someone alongside you in busy places. We work out what a good week looks like for you, then help make it happen consistently.

What this covers
What community participation includes
A shift is shaped around what you need that day, not a fixed checklist. These are the things our workers most often help with.
- Support to attend classes, groups, clubs and community events
- Sport, gym, swimming and recreation activities
- Social outings — cafés, cinema, markets, library, the beach
- Volunteering and work-readiness activities
- Help building confidence in busy or unfamiliar environments
- Support to try new activities and find ones worth keeping
Is this right for you?
This support may suit you if…
We assess every enquiry properly before we take it on — including whether our workers can safely and reliably meet what you need. If the answer is no, we will tell you honestly rather than sign you up and struggle.
- You want to get out more often and do it reliably, not occasionally
- You would like support to build or rebuild social confidence
- You have community participation or social and civic participation funding in your plan
- You live in or near Brisbane, Ipswich, Springfield or Logan
Common questions
Community participation — questions people ask
What counts as community access support under the NDIS?
Community access support covers assistance to take part in activities outside your home — classes, sport, social groups, volunteering, appointments and everyday outings. It is usually funded under Assistance with Social and Community Participation. Your plan and plan manager confirm what is available to you.
Do I pay for my support worker’s entry ticket or coffee?
Providers cannot claim a worker’s personal entry fees, meals or activity costs from your NDIS funding, and we do not ask participants to cover them either. We will always tell you before an outing if an activity has a cost you would need to budget for yourself.
Can a support worker drive me to the activity?
Yes — see our transport and appointment support. Many community access shifts include getting there and back, and we confirm the travel arrangement before the first shift so there are no surprises about who is driving.

Support that works well alongside this
Most participants use two or three of these together. A single shift often covers more than one — we plan around what needs doing, not around service categories.
